The Bali Nyonga Council, located in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, was established in 1921 as the "Bani Native Authority." The Bali people are of Chamba descent, having migrated from the Adamawa Plateau region of what is now northern Cameroon and Nigeria. They eventually settled in their current location in the mid-19th century. The people of Bali Nyonga are traditionally farmers, cultivating cereal crops, cocoa, and coffee, and are also known for their skilled craftsmanship in pottery, metalworking, and sculpture.
